Phpauction has been started by Gianluca Baldo as a personal project in 1997, to test the potential of the newborn PHP scripting language. The reference site at the moment was ebay.com.
The first version of Phpauction was written in PHP/FI language (also called PHP2) and was using miniSQL as database back end. In October 1999 the script has been migrated to PHP3 and the database engine has been changed to MySQL. Some new functionalities have been added and Phpauction has been released as free software under the terms of the General Public License (GPL). Till October 2000 the project followed as a personal initiative. On November 2000 the decision was taken to leave a basic software application available under GPL and invest in R&D to develop further the web based auction transaction engine to an improved commercial web based software technology application
Lorena MartÃnez joined the team on spring 2003, offering her expertise in web design & development. Her incorporation covers new areas such as design, sales, marketing and CRM. New services were released like hosting, design, customers management, etc. in order to provide a better service and turn-key solutions for our clients.
The development of Phpauction web based software technology has been continuous. Actually Phpauction provides 6 different dynamic transaction engine choices including classifieds, trading, plus modules and specific packs. In the last 10 years we have become one of the leading players in web based auction software technology for small/medium companies.
Many people helped us during these years and we would to thank them all. Many user have trusted us. Some have helped us develop the transaction engine with their suggestions and many new customers choose our software every month. Phpauction team not only include the support and development team people, but also our customers and friends that have helped us along the way. To all of them we want to just say: thanks for your confidence. |
